Dublin Temple Bar Housing
Deep in the heart of Dublin, young bicyclers, families and the old come home to their beautiful, affordable apartments with reasonable rooms, where families can grow in elegant, quiet spaces with good light, natural breezes and private balconies. The housing was an international competition, within which we designed for each owner to be able to select their own individual style and finishes from a “Designer’s Kit of Parts"; each local and distinct. They are artist's studios, homes and family filled, just steps away from Temple Bar or Merrion Square, with economy, durability and delight, low utility bills, super insulation, easy management and sustainability. The existing building materials on site were reused in the new design, and a rooftop greenhouse community space and terrace were developed to encourage the tenants to gather together, with a beautiful view out over the Liffey River.
