Morrow Bowden Architects designed the Forkner's new home on the San Joaquin River Delta in Northern California.
The home was an open interior design like a boat, with only cabinetry and storage having interior doors, with boat detailing throughout.
The home was designed to use natural ventilation, and active solar colectors for electrical reuse. All rooms took advantage of passive cooling through overhangs and shade. In addition the home had both public outdoor space on porches overlooking the delta, as well as a private interior courtyard, away from neighbors.
