GALISTEO BASIN PRESERVE

The Galisteo Basin Preserve is a 12,800-acre conservation development in New Mexico’s central Galisteo Basin.

Conceived, founded and developed by Ted Harrison and the Trust for Public Land,

and Master Planned with Mark Brands of Site Workshop and Joe Hruda of Civitas.

Suby Bowden + Associates were the first Community Architects working with other architects and planners for the Master Plan development.

Preliminary design standards images for the village were developed by SBA to reflect the values and principles of a low-impact, resource efficient and sustainable development.

This innovative development will be the first all sustainable, all green development in Santa Fe County with thirty percent affordability and a dominantly solar design.

The village is to be developed within a small bowl of south facing land, with the remaining 12,000 acres to be conserved and restored as publicly accessible open space.

The beautiful watercolor renderings are by Elizabeth Day of Austin, Texas.

Galisteo Basin Preserve has now been coordinated with multiple Community Architects and Planners, with extensive outreach into Community conversations.
