Irene Hoffman, Max Protetch and Suby Bowden had a grande time working together on all 3 buildings at the H+P Residence ; their Main House, a Guest House, and a Studio-Office-Gallery for Max's collection of Architectural Drawings and Sculptures.

The three existing buildings are in the foothills of Santa Fe, originally constructed in the 1970's or 80's as a ranch style home.

it was a pleasure to  both respect the original styling, and to bring the buildings into a contemporary overlay. of both 1970-80's and 2018.

​

Max, Irene and Suby oversaw the different phases of  design and construction together. And of course both Irene and Max have an astonishing art collection to share throughout the property.

​

The original Main House was a one-story with a crawl space, and a small amount of lower level. But when we discovered the crawl space had an amazing shelf of granite. We decided to expose the granite and enlarge the lower level to become the Master Bedroom  Suite, with a beautiful view out into the pinion forest beyond.

Both Max and Suby had great fun personally chipping out the existing granite below the Main Floor, to introduce the granite as a receiving shape, welcomimg visitors down the new steel folded plate staircase into the all new Bedroom Bathroom Suite.
