Suby Bowden + Associates - SBA is a versatile and creative design studio. We are artists, architects, planners, industrial designers, and interior designers, performers, and event planners.

We creatively imagine together new futures and new ideas.

We enjoy collaboration, community participation and preservation of our natural environment, through humorous social responsibility. We also incorporate affordability, appropriate use of technology, and high quality elegant design.

Since 1984, SBA has been producing architecture and planning in New Mexico, and in Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, Texas, Vermont + Hawaii.

We have successfully designed, planned and built 360 projects. Our projects include park planning, public buildings, mixed use commercial centers, custom residences, affordable housing and affordable housing villages, industrial design, furniture, lighting, holograms, films and performances.

SBA has been widely published and has received over 100 awards for design excellence, including :

(2019) AIA Turquoise Medal for Lifetime Achievement,

(2012) National Rudy Bruner Silver Medal for Urban Excellence for the Santa Fe Railyards Master Planning Team,

(2005) SFCHT Innovacion Award for sustainable “green” housing;

(2002) AIA Honor Award for the Saddleback Ranch in Galisteo, NM;

(1999) National Fannie Mae Foundation - Maxwell Award for Excellence for Affordable Housing Arroyo Chico;

SBA began our offices in Santa Fe, New Mexico in 1984, as Morrow Bowden Architects (MoBo) in a good partnership with Suby Bowden and JD Morrow. Suby Bowden + Associates purchased MoBo in 1996. You will see projects on this website by both SBA and by MoBo.

SBA has enjoyed sharing our office with Hoopes + Associates since 2004. We are structured to provide Joint Ventures as Hoopes+Bowden for a larger team.
